KANSAS CITY, KS IS THE SAFEST DRIVING CITY FOR 2016 AND OLATHE IS # 10!
According to the Allstate "Best Driver Report" Kansas City, KS. is the #1 safest city for driving. What does that mean you ask? It means they figure that a driver in Kansas City, KS will experience a collision every 14.9 years. The national average is 10 years.
Congratulations to the drivers of these two cities.
Unfortunately, more than 40,000 people died in automobile accidents nationwide in 2016. July and August are the two deadliest months with each averaging 116 deaths a day each month.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that 94% of deadly crashes are due to preventable human factors! Yes we are responsible for 94% of these accidents due to factors like drunk, distracted, drowsy driving, and speed.
These are not good numbers and I feel we all can do a better job driving by doing the following:
1) Eliminate distractions
2) Allow plenty of time to reach destination.
3) Be aware of road conditions
4) Follow the traffic laws, including speed limits.
5) Maintain your vehicle. Prepare for the extreme situations.
